在太阳系中，第三行星（地球）是一颗非常美丽，而又得天独厚有许多的生物共处在同一星球上，然而身为生物最高智慧的人类，确是地球的破坏者。当我们受伤了有朋友，家人的安慰与鼓励，但是当地球日渐受到伤害，有谁为地球保护呢？亲爱的会员们，就从今天开始，以我们的行动来证明，身体力行保护在我们周边的环境，给于我们的子子孙孙有美丽的森林，能有不受污染的夜空，但我们抬头望向夜空时，星星布满夜空，可以教育孩子们数星星，宇宙万物，是多么美丽。在11月5号（星期日）学会在Ulu Langat 的 Gunung Nuang 办一场（天文环保活动）把一些留在山中的垃圾清理，也是给于会员们的交流。任何疑问请致电学会的负责人。请今天就报名参加，以行动来证明你是多么的爱地球。

Save A Starry Nightsky for Future Generation by You and Me

Introduction

We used to hear the elders saying about the tales of looking up to the nightskies, comets sighting, and personal experiences on witness fireballs and so on in the last couple of decades. However, it is even rare to see people look up to the nightsky for stars nowadays. This might due to the demand of economic growth in our modern society in 21st Century. One of the physical causes that unable us to have starry nightsky is the environmental pollution. The various types of pollution that exist are:
• air pollution
• water pollution
• land pollution
• noise pollution

The earth is getting weaker and weaker every second but not all of us are doing our part to save it! As an astronomy enthusiast, we would like to fresh information about the consequences of light and air pollutions to astronomy observation and ideas on how you and I can make an effort to save our environment by a simple action.

Light pollution is kind of artificial lightings emitted by entertainment house, high density housing areas, energy waste lightings and the lightings for billboards over our city that straying us away from the wonderful heavenly objects.

From our past and recent activities in star parties and mountain climbing, we have found that the waste was disposed of all over the mountain, particularly the resting or camping areas and the viewpoints. When solid waste is not properly treated and disposed of, it can become a breeding for pests and disease can spread. It becomes air pollution when the solid waste is treated by open burning. Air pollution severely degrades the air quality and isolates us from ground-based star observations. Besides, air pollution can cause breathing problems and eye, throat and skin irritation. As a result, we would like to create a public awareness by making a small effort with every single human being. Therefore, we propose the campaign with the theme of “Save A Starry Nightsky for Future Generation by You and Me” – cleaning the solid waste in Gunung Nuang, Selangor.

We deserve a green environment and a clear starry nightsky and it is our responsibilities to reserve our future generations with a peaceful Earth and yet greener environment and skies full of stars. It is never too late to start to make effort with sustainable development.

Our aim of this event are:- 1) Enhance the awareness of environmental protection among the public 2) Encourage the public take part in environmental protection 3) Promoting mountain climbing as it is a healthy activity

Time：8.00am ~ 6.00pm
Venue：Gunung Nuang, Ulu Langat

Target：

1) Gather 100 volunteers to clean up all the rubbish in Gunung Nuang, bring the rubbish down from the mountain for the waste disposal and recycle purpose
2) Set up some direction signboards to avoid the climbers to get lost in the mountain in the future

Participants：No age and gender limit, provided like to contribute in environment protection
Fee: Free of charge. Participants go by their own transport and bring own necessary things
Sponsorship: We also look for the sponsorship from company and association to make this event success.
